What will it take to reach the goal you're investing for?

Set a target, tell us what you've already invested, and see the SIP you may need to get there.

How much SIP do I need to reach my goal?

Answer a few simple questions to estimate the monthly investment required.

The amount you want to have at the end of your investment period.

Include investments you intend to use for this goal.

Enter 0 if you haven't started a SIP yet.

12% is the default assumption for this estimate. Actual returns may vary.

How much SIP do I need to reach my goal?

Start from the amount you want at the end, not from what feels affordable today. Once the target, the number of years and your existing investments are fixed, the monthly amount is simply what is left to fund — no guesswork required.

How does the time available affect the SIP I need?

Time is the single biggest lever. Every instalment invested earlier compounds for longer, so stretching a goal from ten years to fifteen can cut the required monthly amount dramatically — far more than nudging the return assumption ever will.

Why do existing investments matter?

Money already invested for the goal keeps growing on its own until the end of the period. This estimate grows it at your chosen return and subtracts it from the target, so the SIP you see covers only the remaining shortfall.

What return should I assume for SIP planning?

Pick a number you would still be comfortable with in a poor decade. 12% is a common long-term assumption for equity-oriented portfolios, but shorter goals and more conservative portfolios usually deserve 8% or 10%.

What this SIP estimate does — and doesn't — tell you

It tells you the scale of the monthly investment your goal may demand and how much your existing money contributes. It does not account for taxes, exit loads, fund costs, market volatility, future increases to your SIP, or your other goals and commitments competing for the same income.
